SECURITY 3'?m2f Eternal security: Can I lose my salvation?

MOM -- (enters wiping hands on apron, crosses to podium, bends
behind podium, searches as if it were a cupboard)

KID -- (enters wearing backpack, crossing to Mom) Mom, I'm home.

MOM -- (straightens, turns) Oh, hi, honey. How was school? (hugs)

KID -- Fine, I guess.

MOM -- (returning to search cupboard) Do you have any homework?

KID -- Mom, are you busy?

MOM -- (straightens, turns) No. I was just looking for a...
What's wrong?

KID -- Mom, am I going to Hell when I die?

MOM -- What kind of question is that? Of course your not going
to Hell when you die.

KID -- How do you know?

MOM -- Because I was with you when you committed your life to
the Lord.

KID -- But I could still go to Hell when I die, couldn't I?

MOM -- Absolutely not! The Bible is very clear. Don't you
remember Romans 10:9 "if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is
Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you WILL BE saved."?

KID -- Yeah, but that just saves you. What if you like backslide
and stuff?

MOM -- Who have you been talking to?

KID -- Oh, some of the kids at school said if you stopped going
to church or sinned real bad, you could lose your salvation.

MOM -- (hugs) Oh, honey! That's just not true. People who say
that just don't know the heart of God.

KID -- But, how do you know?

MOM -- Well, for one thing, I'm a Mother. I'm a parent.

KID -- What does that have to do with anything?

MOM -- The book of Genesis says that human beings were created
in the image of God. And God is a parent.

KID -- I still don't understand.

MOM -- The Gospel of John says "Yet to all who received him, to
those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become
CHILDREN of God". As a mother I know that God could never just
kick his own CHILD out of his family.

KID -- Yeah, but the kids at school said that faith without
works is dead.

MOM -- Apostle James wrote that his letter to show what true
salvation looks like. He says if you're really saved, your life
will change and you will want to serve God. But YOU want to
serve the Lord, don't you? You look forward to helping me in the
church nursery every Sunday morning, don't you?

KID -- Yeah, sure.

MOM -- So, the evidence of your salvation is that your life is
producing fruit.

KID -- I see.

MOM -- If your life didn't change somehow, I would have reason
to doubt that you were really saved, wouldn't I?

KID -- Sure. But sometimes I still sin.

MOM -- Apostle Paul said "ALL have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God." Do you remember who Apostle Paul was writing to
when he said that?

KID -- The Romans.

MOM -- Not just the Romans, Roman CHRISTIANS.

KID -- Oh.

MOM -- Apostle John told Christians, "If we claim to be without
sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." Does that
mean that none of us will make it to Heaven?

KID -- No. Of course not.

MOM -- You need to ask your friends to show you Bible verses
that say something like "dear friends, you will lose your
salvation if you don't go to church" or "dear Christian, you
will surely go to hell if you sin too much". Do you think they
would find any verses like that in the Bible?

KID -- I doubt it.

MOM -- What they WILL find in the Bible are clear verses like
John 10:28, where Jesus says "I give them eternal life, and they
shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

KID -- (moving to exit) Oh, wow! I've got nothing to worry
about, then, do I?

MOM -- (follows) Take it from a mother, NOBODY is kicking you
out of the family.
