REPLAY2 5'?m5f Prayer, maturity, temperance, humility

AMY -- (enters carrying TV remote control, to audience) Friends,
have you ever wondered why some Christians are so even tempered,
so mature, so cool-headed when adversity strikes? Have you ever
wondered how they do it? Now, through a miracle of modern
electronics, Ronco announces (offers remote control) the amazing
new INSTANT REPLAY, the state-of-the-art electronic device that
allows you to look behind the scenes and see how successful
Christians take a licking and keep on ticking. Let me
demonstrate.

SUE -- (enters, crosses)

LIZ -- (follows) Suzan! You're just the person I wanted to see!

SUE -- (stops, turns) Oh, hi, Liz. Are you really glad to see
me?

LIZ -- Absolutely! With all the hubbub at the awards banquet
last night I never had a chance to congratulate you on your
award. (offers hand) So, congratulations!

SUE -- (shakes) Well, thank you. But frankly, I never expected
to hear you say that. Everybody at the banquet thought that YOU
were going to get the award.

LIZ -- Well, I know how hard you worked. And I also know how
much you wanted to win the award. So, congratulations!

SUE -- I'm sorry you didn't win.

LIZ -- Don't be silly! You won fair and square. Enjoy your
award. And don't worry about me. There's always next year.

SUE -- Well, you've been a good sport about it. I wish all the
competitors were as gracious as you. (looks at watch) Listen,
got to go. (exits)

LIZ -- Yes, of course. Well, congratulations again! Bye Bye.
(waves)

AMY -- (points remote at Liz, presses button)

LIZ -- (freezes with hand in mid-wave)

AMY -- Friends, here's an example of a mature, successful
Christian who has taken defeat with grace, temperance and
humility that few can duplicate. Wouldn't it be great if you
could look behind the scenes and see how she does it?! Now you
can, thanks to Ronco's amazing new INSTANT REPLAY. All you have
to do is (points remote at Liz, presses button with great flair)
press REWIND.

LIZ -- (talks gibberish in high squeaky voice, moves backward
offstage)

AMY -- We'll keep pressing the REWIND button until we arrive at
the end of the awards banquet last night, just after Susan was
announced as this year's big winner. What was Elizabeth doing
behind the scenes while Suzan was giving her acceptance speech?
To find out, we press PLAY. (presses button with flourish)

LIZ -- (reenters stomping and fuming) Of all the stupid, idiotic
things! What on earth were those judges thinking! They must
either be mentally retarded or they completely forgot the rules
of the competition! There is no way Suzan beat me in ANYTHING.
Nobody in the competition was as well prepared as I was! Nobody
practices more than I do. Nobody deserves this award more than I
do! Nobody! Stupid Jerks! (exits)

AMY -- Now, thanks to Ronco's amazing new INSTANT REPLAY, you
can look behind the scenes and see that even the most mature
looking Christians have emotions just like yours and mine. But,
HOW, you ask.... HOW did our mature Christian go from this
condition of outrage and anger last night to this morning's
display of temperance and humility? Thanks to Ronco's amazing
new INSTANT REPLAY, we can FAST FORWARD in time to this morning.
Let's see if anything has changed after Elizabeth has had a good
night's sleep. (presses button with flourish)

LIZ -- (reenters stomping and fuming) Of all the stupid, idiotic
things! What on earth were those judges thinking! They must
either be mentally retarded or they completely forgot the rules
of the competition! There is no way Suzan beat me in ANYTHING.
Nobody in the competition was as well prepared as I was! Nobody
practices more than I do. Nobody deserves this award more than I
do! Nobody! Stupid Jerks! (exits)

AMY -- Oh my! It looks like our mature Christian hasn't made
much progress. She's still upset about last night's defeat. And
we're just moments away from her next encounter with Susan.
Let's FAST FORWARD just a little bit more until just before
Susan arrives on the scene. Then, we press PLAY. (presses button
with flourish)

LIZ -- (reenters, changes from high pitched gibberish and fast
movement to normal movement) ...and I'll never enter that
competition again! Ever! (deep breath, looks up, deep breath,
kneels, folds hands) Dear Lord....

AMY -- (presses button with flourish)

LIZ -- (freezes)

AMY -- And there you have it ladies and gentlemen, thanks to
Ronco's amazing new INSTANT REPLAY, you get a look behind the
scenes to see what changed this angry competitor to a calm,
mature looking, temperate Christian. Elizabeth's secret
ingredient was prayer. Now, let's see what a difference prayer
makes. (presses button with flourish)

LIZ -- (stands, exits) Suzan! You're just the person I wanted to
see!

AMY -- There you have it, folks. That's a look behind the scenes
with Ronco's amazing new INSTANT REPLAY! It can be yours for
just three payments of $39.95. (exiting) Or better yet, try the
prayer. It's free.
