PAUL -- (enters, paces floor)

MARG -- (teenager, enters with steno pad)

Hello, my name is Margie. I'm from the prison steno
pool. They said you wanted to write a letter?

PAUL -- That's right.

MARG -- Fire away.

PAUL -- Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of...

MARG -- Paul?!

PAUL -- Huh?

MARG -- Paul the apostle?! You're Paul THE apostle?!

        (Shakes his hand vigorously)

I have been wanting to meet you for a long time. I Just
want you to know that you're my favorite apostle. I
        expected a taller man...

PAUL -- Can we get on with this?

MARG -- (lets go of his hand, readies her pad) Fire away.

PAUL -- Where were we?

MARG -- Is Paul spelled p.a.L.l. or p.a.U.l..?

PAUL -- P.A.U.L.. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the
will of God, and Timothy our brother. To the holy and
        faithful...

MARG -- How do you spell apostle?

PAUL -- Oh, brother. A.P.O.S.T.L.E., apostle. Paul, an apostle
of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our
brother. To the holy and faithful ...

MARG -- Timothy? Who's Timothy?

PAUL -- He'll be here later. He's going to deliver this letter
to the Colossians. Can we go on now?

MARG -- Fire away.

PAUL -- Where were we?

MARG -- Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus...

PAUL -- (clicks his tongue)

MARG -- You have no idea what a privilege it is to be writing
a letter for the Apostle Paul. Wait til I tell the
girls in the steno pool that I took dictation from ....

PAUL -- Young lady...

MARG -- ...Margie.

PAUL -- Margie, this is a long letter, would you mind if I
        talk and you write?

MARG -- Sure, Just let me get caught up here..."to the holy
        and faithful ...

PAUL -- To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse.

MARG -- ...at Colosse.

PAUL -- Grace and peace to you from God our father.

MARG -- Oh, that is soooo sweet. Nobody ever gave me grace and
        peace...

PAUL -- (clears throat)

MARG -- ...from God our father." Got it. Fire away.

PAUL -- We always thank God, the father of our Lord Jesus
Christ when we pray for you, because we have...

MARG -- ...excuse me?

PAUL -- Yes, what is it now?

MARG -- It's time for coffee break.

PAUL -- But I haven't even...

MARG -- ...union rules. You know, the scribes union. Well, I'll
see you in a few minutes. (exiting) Wait til I tell the
girls hear that I'm taking dictation for Apostle Paul.
        (giggles)

PAUL -- (Growls, stomps, paces) Paul, control yourself. It is
the Lord Christ you are serving.

Hey! I like that. It is the Lord Christ you are
serving. I think I'll work that in to my letter to the
Colossians.(exiting)... if she will ever let me finish
        the letter.
